Description of Egyptian Mau Cat Breed
The Egyptian Mau offers a delightful personality and striking appearance.
The Mau (mau is the Egyptian word for cat) comes in three colors that can be shown in championship classes: Smoke, Silver and Bronze. Also accepted for registration purposes, but not for showing, are the solid Black, blue, blue spotted, blue silver, blue smoke and solid blue.
The first Egyptian Mau was imported to North America in 1956 by an exiled Russian princess. They were accepted for championship competition by The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) in 1977.
The Egyptian Mau is the only natural spotted breed of domestic cat. They are spotted, have banded legs and tail, expressive beautiful green eyes with distinctive mascara line and a worrisome facial expression.
Pricing on Egyptian Maus usually depends on type, applicable markings and bloodlines. Typically breeders of all breeds of kittens release their kittens somewhere between twelve and sixteen weeks of age. The reasoning behind keeping a kitten until after twelve weeks is that kittens have had their basic inoculations. This gives them time to develop the physical and social stability needed to make a smooth transition into their new environment. It is never recommended that a breeder release a kitten before twelve weeks of age as the kittens need this time to develop properly. Releasing a kitten prior to twelve weeks of age is against the law in many states. It is also recommended that you keep all pedigreed cats and kittens indoors and that they be spayed or neutered. Cats and kittens of all ages also need suitable surfaces for scratching, such as scratching posts. Scratching is a natural behavior of the cat breed and declawing a cat is not recommended and is not accepted by the Cat Fanciers Association.
Groomer's Goop Creme for Oily Coat is the professional's choice to remove oils and de-grease the coats of long haired cats and dogs. Great for removing Stud Tail!
