Description of LaPerm Cat Breed
The LaPerm cat is said to have originated from a barn cats on a farm in Oregon in the early 1980's. Named LaPerm for its curly, rippled hair. The coat on a
LaPerm can vary from ringlets, beautiful waves, tight ringlets to long corkscrew type curls. Their coat is soft in texture. The LaPerm is recognized in every color and pattern.
LaPerms are an affectionate, yet active breed. LaPerms love to be lap kitties and make excellent companions as they are very people oriented.
Pricing on LaPerms usually depends on type, applicable markings and bloodlines. Typically breeders of all breeds of kittens release their kittens somewhere between twelve and sixteen weeks of age. The reasoning behind keeping a kitten until after twelve weeks is that kittens have had their basic inoculations. This gives them time to develop the physical and social stability needed to make a smooth transition into their new environment. It is never recommended that a breeder release a kitten before twelve weeks of age as the kittens need this time to develop properly. Releasing a kitten prior to twelve weeks of age is against the law in many states. It is also recommended that you keep all pedigreed cats and kittens indoors and that they be spayed or neutered. Cats and kittens of all ages also need suitable surfaces for scratching, such as scratching posts. Scratching is a natural behavior of the cat breed and declawing a cat is not recommended and is not accepted by the Cat Fanciers Association.
